Eve Hewson may have famous parents, but she's proven with some fantastic TV and movie performances that she's talented all on her own. Paul David Hewson met Alison "Ali" Stewart when they were just teenagers before Paul adopted the stage name "Bono" and became the frontman for U2, one of the most successful bands of all time. Ali is an activist like her husband, and together, the couple has promoted fair trade and environmental issues. Bono and Ali have four children, and the second, born on July 7, 1991, is Memphis Eve Sunny Day Iris Hewson, or, "Eve".

Hewson began her career in her early teens, appearing in movies like Lost and Found in 2005 and The 27 Club in 2008. She worked sporadically at that time, and it wasn't until 2011 with This Must Be the Place that she had a role with wide recognizability, playing the supporting character Mary in Paolo Sorrentino's comedy-drama. Since then, Hewson has worked steadily in film and television and has the ability to play below and above her age. She can be wise and reflective, or naive and energetic. Hewson has put her range to excellent use in many notable performances.

Eve Hewson plays Nenette, Henri's lover who was with him the night he supposedly committed a murder, but the police ignore her alibi. Hewson's scenes are mostly at the beginning and though they may be few, but she's excellent in them. Her chemistry with Hunnam is critical to making it clear why he is willing to risk everything to escape his imprisonment. Hewson's bewilderment and fear when authorities arrive are appropriately grim and harrowing, setting the tone for the film.

Behind Her Eyes is a British supernatural psychological thriller series from Netflix starring Eve Hewson, Simona Brown, and Tom Bateman. Louise (Brown) is a single mother who begins an affair with her boss, David (Bateman), but at the same time, strikes up a friendship with David's wife, Adele (Hewson). What results is a suspenseful and twisted love triangle as Louise tries to keep her secrets from being exposed.

Hewson strikes an ominous figure as the hyper-focused Adele and the show improves every time she shows up.

The limited series can be quite dull, and the fantasy elements that come into play later in the season are particularly confusing. However, Behind Her Eyes is also extremely charming with a winning performance from Hewson. Her ability to make the more absurd aspects of the series feel believable makes the show's six episodes much more pleasurable than they would have been otherwise. Hewson strikes an ominous figure as the hyper-focused Adele and the show improves every time she shows up.

Ethan Hawke stars in Tesla as the eponymous inventor, Nikola Tesla, in this biopic. Eve Hewson plays his companion, though never lover, Anne Morgan, daughter of banking magnate, J.P. Morgan. The film follows Tesla's life from 1884 to 1901, in part depicting his rivalry with Thomas Edison (Kyle MacLachlan). Anne is Tesla's most trusted confident, though he slowly pushes her away until she leaves for France. Hewson also serves as an omniscient narrator who refers to modern products like MacBooks and Google Search.

Tesla is a flawed film, but it's unique and bold in its storytelling, as it tries to put a new spin on the popular but fairly dry biopic movie genre. Hewson serves double duty in Tesla, as Tesla's friend and the narrator speaking over the events of the film, even closing out the movie. She's sure-handed in her acting and Hewson's soft and lilting voice gives the film an almost fable-like quality.

7 The Luminaries (2020)

Eve Hewson Plays Anna Wetherell

Based on Eleanor Catton's 2013 novel of the same name, The Luminaries miniseries is also written by the author and is centered on Anna Wetherell (Eve Hewson), an adventurer who has traveled to Dunedin, New Zealand to make her fortune in the gold rush. Anna's 19th-century tale eventually becomes one of romance, murder, and revenge. The show premiered on TVNZ 1 in May 2020 with six episodes.

It's a very stylish series with impeccable costumes and production design that perfectly captures the wildness of New Zealand as well as its beauty. As a period drama, it can feel a bit old-fashioned at times, but Hewson's leading performance elevates even the stuffier scenes. Anna is a well-rounded character who is constantly trying to figure out the right course. Hewson gives her charm, strength, and vulnerability in equal measure.

Enough Said was released posthumously after star James Gandolfini passed away and was his second-to-last movie. For that reason, it's hard not to watch the romantic comedy-drama without a twinge of sadness, wondering what could have been with the immensely talented actor. Getting past that, Enough Said is a highly enjoyable movie with three elite performances from Gandolfini, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Eve Hewson.

Hewson's performance as a teen trying to balance loyalty to her mother but also make sure her father is happy is remarkably honest and real.

In the film, Albert (Gandolfini) and Eva (Louis-Dreyfus) are two divorced single people who begin dating. Tess (Hewson) is Albert's daughter and, while she's polite and sweetly awkward, she's also a bit standoffish to Eva. Hewson's performance as a teen trying to balance loyalty to her mother but also make sure her father is happy is remarkably honest and real. The chemistry between Gandolfini and Louis-Dreyfus is obvious, but Hewson has it with both leads despite not having as much screentime.

James Gandolfini's last credited film role is the 2014 crime film The Drop as Marvin 'Cousin Marv' Stipler.

5 Paper Year (2018)

Eve Hewson Plays Franny Winters

Paper Year follows the first year of marriage between Franny Winters (Eve Hewson) and her husband Dan Delaney (Avan Jogia). It's a gentle drama about maturity and having to grow up alongside someone else who perhaps is not growing at the same speed. The young couple learns the hard truth that they will have to compromise if they ever want their union to succeed.

Her fears don't feel imagined, and her frustrations are easy to empathize with as she struggles to understand her new life.

It's a quiet and occasionally heartbreaking but authentic drama. Hewson, who has proven time and again her ability to have incredible chemistry with any actor, once again creates a real-seeming relationship between Franny and Dan. Her fears don't feel imagined, and her frustrations are easy to empathize with as she struggles to understand her new life. It's a grounded performance from both leads and Hewson manages to teeter her character on the edge of joyful and forlorn for most of the film.

4 The True Adventures Of Wolfboy (2019)

Eve Hewson Plays Plays Rose

In The True Adventures of Wolfboy, an unusual coming-of-age film, a young boy named Paul Harker (Jaeden Martell) has hypertrichosis, which causes an abnormal amount of hair growth all over his body. He runs away from home to find his estranged mother, discovering adventure along the way, including briefly working for an exploitative amusement park owner, Mr. Silk (John Turturro). Paul is joined by an eye-patch-wearing bar patron, Rose (Eve Hewson), and Aristiana (Sophie Giannamore), a transgender girl who loves mermaids.

It's a heartwarming and unique movie that doesn't exploit the characters at its center nor does it even become overly saccharine with its storyline. As Rose, Hewson gets to play a much more energetic and carefree character than the staid ones she is best known for. It's also one of her most comic yet sympathetic performances, and proves how much more range Hewson has when given different scripts.

The Knick is an excellent two-season period piece medical drama about the real-life Knickerbocker Hospital in New York in the early 20th century. While most characters in The Knick are fictional, there are a few historical ones to keep the sense of time and place that makes the series so unique. Eve Hewson is one of the show's leads, Lucy Elkins, a nurse from West Virginia who works at the Knick and has an unrequited love for Dr. John W. "Thack" Thackery (Clive Owen).

This sincere, emotional, and beloved drama was canceled before it had the chance to resolve its story, but is worth returning to for the performances alone.

This sincere, emotional, and beloved drama was canceled before it had the chance to resolve its story, but is worth returning to for the performances alone. Hewson's role as the courageous and pitiable Lucy is particularly affecting. Her love for Thack feels honest, so it never seems like she is overstepping or becoming a nuisance. Instead, it's a sorrowful performance that rings very true.

Bad Sisters centers on the five Garvey sisters: Eva (Sharon Horgan), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Becka (Eve Hewson). The sisters are living in Dublin when Grace's abusive husband, John Paul, (Claes Bang) dies suddenly, and they become the focus of an insurance investigation that suggests one or more of the sisters were involved with his death. Becka is the youngest of the Garveys. She had a run-in with John Paul when he reneged on a promise to invest in her massage business.

This Apple TV+ series is a deliberately over-the-top black comedy that is packed with fantastic performances and an intriguing storyline that winds backward and forward between before John Paul's death and after. Despite the violence and humor, Bad Sisters is a surprigsingly warm murder mystery thanks to the relationship between the sisters. Becca is the quintessential baby sister, fiery and pesky to her older sisters but also the first to defend any of them. Hewson plays Becca with energy and a constant shiftiness that works for the character.

It's an incredible performance from Hewson. She's asked to sing often in the film and, either as virtue of her father's influence, her Irish heritage, or just practice, Hewson is at home on stage, able to sing as well as she acts, and she acts wonderfully. It's a mischievous and charming role that makes the best out of her comedic range and her ability to depict a sweet and loving mother with only a look. Flora and Son is a singularly charming film, and Eve Hewson holds the center of the frame like a true star.
